and Animal Communicator

Margaret E. Dexter has been a Reiki Practitioner since 1987. She became a Reiki Master in 1995 and began teaching Reiki that year. Margaret has studied Reiki with seven different Reiki Masters from various schools and lineages. She studied Usui Reiki with Phyllis Victory, Jeanne Greene and Kathy Collins, Usui / Tibetan Reiki with Laurelle Gaia and Beth Stapor, Komyo Reiki with Rev. Hyakuten Inamoto and Animal Reiki with Kathleen Prasad.

In April 2005, Margaret attended a Komyo Reiki  workshop taught by Rev. Hyakuten Inamoto, a Buddhist monk who is the founder of Komyo Reiki and satisfactorily completed "KOMYO REIKI SHINPIDEN (Teacher's Degree)". She is now offering Reiki Workshops based on the Japanese philosophy.

In 2008 she began a study of Animal Reiki with Kathleen Prasad, and Animal Reiki is her passion. She now includes Animal Reiki in all her beginning workshops.

In 2009 Margaret began a study of Animal Communication with Val Heart and she now offers Animal Reiki and/or Animal Communication as appropriate in her sessions with animals.

From 1995 through 2009 Margaret taught Reiki in the Western style, gradually introducing Japanese Reiki techniques and concepts into her workshops as she became aware of them. In 2010 she began the transition from Western to Japanese Reiki with the intention of teaching Reiki in a way that is in alignment with the original teachings of Usui Sensei, the founder of the Reiki System of Natural Healing.

In 2011 Margaret studied Shinpiden (Reiki Master Training) with Frans Stiene, co-founder of the International House of Reiki and the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage. She now teaches all levels of Reiki in this traditional Japanese lineage.

Margaret holds an A.B. degree from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Information and Computer Science at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. In addition to teaching Reiki workshops, she has many years of experience teaching in both the academic and non-academic world. She is an experienced teacher and workshop leader and enjoys sharing her love of Reiki with her students.

Margaret enjoyed a very successful 25 year career as a computer professional. She worked for IBM as a systems engineer and for several different companies as a data processing manager, a systems analyst and a scientific programmer before returning to school for her graduate work. She was a college professor for ten years. Margaret left the academic world in 1985. Since that time she has been self employed and actively on a spiritual path.

Margaret has trained in several other healing modalities including Breath Integration, intuitive body work, several forms of hands on healing and RoHun "spiritual psychotherapy." Her favorite is Reiki, and that is what she practices and teaches.

Margaret was born in Atlanta, GA and has lived many different places including McCaysville GA, Vancouver BC Canada, Tacoma WA, Reston VA, New Orleans LA, Charlotte NC and Augusta GA. She currently lives and teaches in Chattanooga, TN. She offers distant healing to people and animals no matter where they live.
